According to ancient Vedic texts, rudraksha beads are endowed with cosmic powers to elevate the soul and assist on the path of ascension. By meditating with a rudraksha mala it is believed to increase the ability to concentrate, giving clarity and peace of mind, as well as improving memory and relieving stress and anxiety.
Onyx is worn to defend negative energy that is directed at you; it fortifies self confidence and responsibility. It stabilizes, heals, and strengthens your Root Chakra so you may become more grounded and productive in the physical world.
Measures approximately 22 inches long.
Rudraksha beads are approx. 7.5mm-8mm, onyx beads are 8mm and guru bead is 14mm.
Tassel is about 4-5 inches long.
Why 108 beads in a Mala?
There have been many questions over the years of WHY 108 and it comes from the power of 9s - in making malas we follow a power of 9s when dividing malas. You will see malas made of 18 beads, 27, 36, 54, 72, 81 and 108 - and wrist malas made of 21.
108 is a significant number for many reasons.
Some associate the possibility of enlightenment with taking only 108 breaths a day while in deep meditation. Others connect the number’s significance to the heart chakra, as there is said to be 108 energy lines leading to it, one of which is believed to be the path to self realization.
Some say there are 108 feelings, with 36 related to the past, 36 related to the present, and 36 related to the future.
There are 54 letters in the Sanskrit alphabet. Each has masculine and feminine, shiva and shakti. 54 times 2 is 108.
Some also relate the diameter of the Sun which is 108 times the diameter of the Earth. The distance from the Sun to the Earth is 108 times the diameter of the Sun...
Regardless of the meaning of 108, it is important that if a mala is used to count mantras, the mantra be remembered with sincerity, devotion, feeling, and full attention.

Your mala is a precious part of your life. When I make each mala, we hope our buyers will use it lifelong. Mala making requires patience, as does the maintenance of your mala. Any vigorous exercise (with your mala) or bathing/swimming may cause damage to it.
I make my malas and bracelets keeping in mind your need for positivity energy. Although your mala absorbs negative energy, you must clean your mala regularly to ensure that the mala does not become saturated with negativity and reflect it back to you. Leaving your mala in natural sunlight for a few hours could do the trick for removing negativity.
Malas strung on a natural silk thread are delicate and we urge our buyers to avoid frequent stretching. Too much stretching may damage your mala.
Often my buyers ask why they their malas or bracelets have slight discolorations or differences from the pictures shown. This is due to each gemstone’s natural originality and uniqueness. Each stone is slightly different from the other, which is why your mala is special from the same one another buyer may receive.
